Lenten Respite
Dear friends in Christ,
What an opportunity this unfortunate corona virus epidemic has given us. Governor Wolfe has asked all of us here in Montgomery County to self-quarantine and to avoid large gatherings of people. Many of us are finding that we have plenty of time on our hands and that our normally busy lives have been halted. In this time where families are finding new ways to interact and entertain ourselves, let us not forget that we are in the season of Lent, a time of self-examination and reflection. Let us take the time that we have been afforded and work on our spiritual lives. Now is the time to take time for ourselves in prayer, to read that spiritual book that we have been putting off, to take time to exercise for the betterment of your health. If you are like me, I am thinking of things I can do that I am always putting off due to lack of time. I realize that my soul needs time also. May God bless all of us at this worrisome time and may we stay healthy, both spiritually and physically, and be ready to go back out into the world being better people and brighter beacons of Christ's light. Amen
The following are prayers I am asking all of us to pray during this time:
For Health of Body and Soul
May God the Father bless us, God the Son heal us, God
the Holy Spirit give us strength. May God the holy and
undivided Trinity guard our bodies, save our souls, and bring
us safely to his heavenly country; where he lives and reigns
for ever and ever. Amen.
For Doctors and Nurses
Sanctify, O Lord, those whom you have called to the study
and practice of the arts of healing, and to the prevention of
disease and pain. Strengthen them by your life-giving Spirit,
that by their ministries the health of the community may be
promoted and your creation glorified; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
