October 28, 2011
We said goodbye to the Rev. Sunny Hallanan, our rector of sixteen years, with a luncheon celebrating her ministry at St. James on Sunday, October 16, 2011. And now begins a new chapter in the life of the parish as our Search Committee starts the process which will lead to the calling of a new rector.
The first order of business for the Search Committee will be the development of a survey tool that will be used in the creation of a parish profile. Input on the survey from every member of the parish will be important in order to compile an accurate picture of who we are as a parish, what directions we feel called to and excited about, and what type of clergy leadership would be best for the future life of the parish.
The Search Committee has met with Ms. Jill Mathis, Canon for Transition Ministry, who discussed the responsibilities of committee members and the process to be followed as outlined by the Diocese of Pennsylvania and the national church. At the end of the evening the avenues to be used in understanding the needs and expectations of our congregation were discussed. Work will begin immediately on creating the survey tool as indicated above.
Your prayers are asked for every step of the search process: customizing the profile survey to fit St. James, eliciting a large response from the parish to the survey, compiling an accurate profile of our parish, and finally beginning the actual search.

It is the intent of the Search Committee to keep parish members aware of its progress on a regular basis. Updates will be given during service times, through the Epistle, and on this website.
